South Beach hours and the floor

The casino covers over 40,000 square feet and is entirely smoke-free. It holds over 500 slot machines from IGT, Aristocrat, AGS, Scientific Games and Konami. Denominations run from 1 cent to $5. The resort around it is built in an Art-deco style with a tropical atmosphere.

Every day, Monday to Sunday, the floor opens at 10 am and closes at 3 am. A guest who checks in after supper on a weeknight still has the machines until 3 am. Holiday hours are different, and the resort posts them on its own site, southbeachcasino.ca. Anyone planning a holiday weekend should check there before setting out on Highway 59.

Live table games keep a shorter week. They run Thursday and Friday from 5 pm to 2 am, Saturday from 4 pm to 2 am and Sunday from 3 pm to 1 am. From Monday to Wednesday the tables are closed, though the slots stay open. On Sunday the tables close at 1 am, while the slot floor stays open until 3 am.

Four games are on offer: Double Deck Black Jack, Single-Zero Roulette, Texas Shootout and High Card Flush. The roulette wheel is the single-zero kind. A Tuesday visit means slots, not live tables.

The Ocean Club is the resort's free players club. The card is issued on the spot at the Ocean Club, and a valid ID is required. Slot play earns points, and every 400 points can be redeemed for one dollar in Beach Bucks. Points expire after 12 months of inactivity. Guests aged 50 or over can also join the 50 Plus Club, which gives member discounts at the resort's outlets and on hotel stays.

Beside the Ocean Club in the casino is the Coral Reef Gift Shop, which sells lottery tickets. It opens Sunday to Wednesday from 11 am to 7 pm, and Thursday to Saturday from noon to 10 pm.
